100x

A repository of all known bets that paid out a multiple of 100x or higher.

Only verified, known outcomes at 100× or above are listed; nothing below the line appears.

01Ledger

Sorted by multiple, descending. An equal multiple keeps the earlier buy date first.

Multiple (×) is the value divided by the amount invested. Multiple (%) is that number times 100 — the percent of the stake returned. 100× equals 10,000%.

Examples are illustrative, rounded, and based on publicly reported figures; dates and amounts are approximate. Checks that are widely reported are shown as reported. Exit figures apply the rounded multiple to that amount. Bechtolsheim’s Google stake was reported near $326 million at the 2004 IPO; Sequoia’s near $2 billion at the IPO price; Thiel’s Facebook cash-out just over $1 billion; Accel’s 2012 position about $1.9 billion sold and $5.8 billion still held. Bitcoin is a round lot between the public prints near $1 in 2011 and $1,000 in 2013. The ether sale is a round lot from an entry near $0.30 to a 2017 print near $300. Neither crypto row is a named holder’s trade. “Marked” is a public valuation, not cash received.

02What qualifies

  1. 01

It cleared 100× — realised, or publicly marked, at one hundred times the money invested or more.

  2. 02

It is documented: the size, the dates, and the outcome can be checked in a public record.

  3. 03

Rumours stay off, and a paper gain is not entered as a finished sale.

Submissions and corrections

A documented bet that clears the line can be submitted. A listed figure that is wrong should be corrected.
